This is lesson 7 of the systematic Bible study of the Book of First John which covers 1 John 4:1-11. Practical advice is given to parents and teachers on how to teach these verses, and important doctrines are pointed out and discussed. The doctrines being covered are: #1 – Christians are to be people of discretion and wisdom ready and able to evaluate and determine if someone is teaching the truth of God and is someone they should listen to and learn from. #2 – The primary indicator that someone is of God is that they profess to believe that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. #3 – The children of God hear and will believe the truth of God when they hear it. The children of the world will not hear, nor believe, the truth of God when they hear it. These will instead hear and believe the lies of false teachers. #4 – Loving other fellow believers is one of the key indicators that one is born of God, and knows God. #5 – God is love. #6 – Proof that God loves His people is that He sent His son to be the propitiation for their sins. #7 – The natural result of God’s love being upon man is that he also loves the children of God, just as God does.
